Goldspiel Performs at American Village Independence Day Celebration 2017

IMG_2207As part of July 4th, 2017 celebrations, Alan Goldspiel performed as the house Spanish guitarist in a recreation of the Mount Vernon room at American Village’s Independence Day celebration.

Goldspiel performed three, 30-minute programs of Popular 18th Century Hits for the Spanish guitar. Period composers represented were Fernando Sor, Franz Joseph Haydn, and Francesco Molino.

In the spirit of the celebration, Goldspiel, as well as all other historical reenactors, wore period-appropriate costumes.

When asked about any unique performance issues that might be connected to this type of event, Goldspiel stated, “Typically, while performances can be demanding, performing in period costume and under the intense July heat presents its own set of challenges.”

The American Village recreates the experience of living in 18th Century America with all historical interpreters and performers dressing in period-appropriate costumes. It is a fun educational experience for all who attend.
