Classical Guitarist, Alan Goldspiel Returns To American Village Independence Day Celebrations

Classical guitarist, Alan Goldspiel, was invited to perform at The American Village in Montevallo for the third year in a row. The performances were part of American Villages annual Independence Day celebrations and required Goldspiel to return to his role as an 18th Century Spanish guitarist.

NAMM GenNext, Nashville – June 28-30, 2018

Dr. Alan Goldspiel traveled to Nashville, TN to attend 2018 Summer NAMM as a 2018 NAMM Foundation/CMS GenNext Fellow. Goldspiel was awarded The NAMM Foundation-College Music Society Grant back in May as one of fourteen music faculty members nationwide chosen to participate in the CMS-NAMM Summer Fellows Program for Music Faculty.

NACUSA New Music Through The South Tour 2018

The National Association of Composers, USA – Mid-South Chapter inaugural New Music through the South Tour took place during the week of June 18, 2018. Composers represented in this series of week-long concerts were Alan Goldspiel, Joe L. Alexander, Ken Davies, Richard Montalto, David R. Peoples, William Price, Lori Ardovino, Biraj Adhikari, Pam Asberry, and Mark Prince Lee.

Young Musicians’ Camp 2018

June 10-15, 2018

On June 10th the Department of Music at the University of Montevallo celebrated the 15th annual week-long Young Musicians’ Camp. Each year the camp provides young musicians between the ages of 11-18 years old the opportunity to create and perform music on a university campus while working directly with professional faculty artists.

Dr. Alan Goldspiel Awarded 2018 NAMM Foundation/CMS GenNext Fellow Grant

On May 7th, 2018, Dr. Alan Goldspiel was awarded The NAMM Foundation-College Music Society Grant. The grant designates Goldspiel as a “2018 NAMM Foundation/CMS GenNext Fellow. Goldspiel was selected as one of nine music faculty members nationwide chosen to participate in the CMS-NAMM Summer Fellows Program for Music Faculty.

The program is designed to introduce music faculty to professions in the music industry, giving them background to better prepare students for careers as 21st-century musicians. The NAMM Foundation College Music Society Fellows Award seeks to support individuals who exhibit commitment and aptitude for developing curricula related to business leadership and innovation in the music products industry.

On April 28th, 2018, Dr. Alan Goldspiel, Chair and Professor of Music at the University of Montevallo was inducted into Sigma Alpha Iota International Music Fraternity as a Distinguished Member-Friend of the Arts.

Goldspiel Honored To Be Music Director at 2018 Holocaust Remembrance Concert Held At Temple Emanu-El

On Saturday, April 13th, Dr. Alan Goldspiel was honored to be the Music Director and one of the performers for the 2018 Holocaust Remembrance held at Temple Emanu-El in Birmingham. The concert and worship service was presented by the Birmingham Holocaust Education Center, Birmingham Jewish Federation, Knesseth Israel Congregation, Temple Beth-El, Temple Emanu-El, and Violins of Hope.

NACUSA Conferences Highlight March Perfomances

Sunday, March 11th, 2018 – The NACUSA Mid-South Regional performance at LeBaron Recital Hall, University of Montevallo saw Dr. Alan Goldspiel perform repertoire in preparation for his performance at the NACUSA National Conference. Earlier in the year Goldspiel’s composition Yom HaShoah was selected for the national conference.
